BBC The Apprentice: Lord Sugar makes savage dig at Piers Morgan and asks for 'pest control'

The Apprentice returned to our screens this evening, and it only took Lord Alan Sugar a few minutes to make a dig at Piers Morgan. As the contestants took turns introducing themselves, one said he worked in pest control.

Lord Sugar said: “Mark, you’re in the pest control business.” He replied: “Correct.” Lord Sugar quickly quipped back: “Got any tips of how I can deal with Piers Morgan?”, earning him laughs from the contestants.

The hilarious dig is the latest addition to a long-running feud with journalist and TalkTV show host Piers. The two stars had a falling out in 2020 after Piers criticised the government’s handling of the pandemic on Good Morning Britain.

Lord Sugar took issue with the presenter’s comments and called him out on Twitter, leading to a huge rift between the formerly good friends. Their feud escalated in May 2020 when Piers announced he had banned cabinet ministers from appearing on GMB.

Lord Sugar tweeted: “What minister in their right mind would want to go on @gmb to be abused and bullied by @piersmorgan.” He also told The Sun: “It’s terrible reporting, I’m sick and tired of him, he’s doing it for his own profile.”

Piers later addressed their feud in an interview with The Sunday Times. He said: “It’s gone way beyond a joke, and for me it’s ruined our friendship. I think we’re done as friends. I can’t see through the behaviour.”

Piers later revealed that the feud was over In his Daily Mail column. He said: “I’ve even missed Sugar as a human being”. He added: “Beneath his gnarly, blunt and often breathtakingly rude exterior, he’s got a good heart.”
