West Virginia Edges Out Oklahoma State 2-1 in Quarterfinals – Big 12 Conference


ROUND ROCK, Texas – Goals scored by Lauren Segalla and Jordan Brewster lifted No. 4-seed West Virginia to a 2-1 win over No. 5-seed Oklahoma State at the Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship.
 
After a scoreless first half, West Virginia got on the board in the 65th minute when forward Lauren Segalla headed in a corner kick. West Virginia defender Jordan Brewster converted a penalty kick in the 84th minute to expand the lead. Oklahoma State fired back as Olyvia Dowell netted a ball to the bottom left of the goal past WVU’s Kayza Massey a minute later.
 
Cowgirls goalkeeper Jordan Nytes recorded five saves, including three in the first half, and freshman midfielder Xcaret Pineda added an assist for the Cowgirls on Sunday afternoon.
 
West Virginia faces Texas in the semifinals of the 2022 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Championship semifinals at 4:30 p.m. CT on Thursday.
