University of Kentucky basketball Coach John Calipari took to his Facebook and Twitter page today to pay respect to a coal miner and, along the way, gave a shout out to Clarksburg.
Calipari posted a picture of a man who was determined to be a coalminer attending at University of Kentucky basketball event. The man, who appears to have just left the mines, was recognized by Calipari and his comments where he started with a reference to Clarksburg. The post reads as follows:
“My family’s American dream started in a Clarksburg, WV coal mine, so this picture hits home.
“From what I’ve been told, after his shift, he raced to be with his son & watch our team. Don’t know who this is, but I have tickets for him & his family at Rupp to be treated as VIPs!!”
According to comments on the post, the man has been identified. The post is shown below from Calipari’s Facebook page.
