The IRA is what West Virginia needed

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is one of the biggest improvements to our economy in years. The issues it addresses have gone on far too long. Companies have been getting away with not paying their fair share of taxes for decades. The IRA promises to put a stop to these unfair policies while creating new programs that will spur job creation throughout the country, including West Virginia.

This bill will positively impact working-class families the most. Production tax credits, including bonus credits for businesses that pay workers a prevailing wage, will bring new jobs in clean energy. West Virginia is an energy state and there has already been talk of new economic investments in different forms of clean energy in the Mountain State.

Additionally, IRA bill has other pieces that benefit West Virginians like lowering drug and health care costs. As a rural and traditionally unhealthy state, this will go a long way in helping our people get the preventative care they need.

It is the job of our elected officials to help create a better economy for everyone. I thank Senator Joe Manchin for standing up to Big Pharma and large corporations to build a better economy for the average West Virginian.
