The drug ‘boot’ intercepted in West Virginia


CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – A Hedgesvie man has been intercepted transporting a drug called “boot” into the eastern panhandle, according to U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia Bill Ilhenfeld. Kyle Finch, 23, of Hedgesville, has entered a guilty plea to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute eutylone.

A report from the CDC describes eutylone, or boot as a chemical compound designed to mimick the effects of methamphetamine, cocaine or ectasy. The report said in 2020 343 deaths were blamed on the substance, more then 75-percent of those fatal doses were ingested in Maryland and Florida.

Finch faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
