How to Watch West Virginia vs. Virginia Tech – NCAA Football Week 4 | Channel, Stream, Preview, Prediction

An intriguing interconference matchup helps kickoff Week 4 of the 2022 college football season, as two teams in neighboring states face off, as the Virginia Tech Hokies get set to host the West Virginia Mountaineers.

WEST VIRGINIA MOUNTAINEERS (1-2) vs. VIRGINIA TECH HOKIES (2-1)

  • When: Thursday, September 22
  • Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
  • Where: Lane Stadium (Blacksburg, Va.)
  • Channel: ESPN
  • Stream: DirecTV Stream, FuboTV, Sling

The Hokies did not have a great start to the season, losing in stunning fashion in Week 1 to Old Dominion. However, they have since bounced back with a couple of solid victories, beginning their ACC action with a victory over Boston College, while also beating Wofford at home last Saturday. Virginia Tech is certainly not a favorite to be conference title contender, but what they showed on the opening night of their season was that they might be team that struggles against the top teams like Wake Forest and Clemson. Quarterback Grant Wells and running back Keshawn King have led the offense from the backfield, as King has averaged 87.5 yards a game on the ground, with Wells having thrown four touchdown passes in the team’s three games.

Things have not been much better for the team from the state to the left, as West Virginia has yet to win a game against and FBS school. Sure, they dominated FCS opponent Towson last week, 65-7, but it certainly did not erase their season-opening losses, not for a lack of trying. After falling late in the Backyard Bowl to Pitt in Week 1, the Mountaineers dropped their Big 12 opener to the vastly improved Kansas squad, falling 55-42 in overtime. JT Daniels has been solid, throwing six TD passes, averaging under 250 yards a game.

This will be the 54th all-time meeting between the Hokies and Mountaineers, with West Virginia holding a 29-23-1 record, with West Virginia taking the win last season in Morgantown.

MY PICK: Virginia Tech wins, 32-20
